Message from Pr. Cipriano

THE HOLY SPIRIT AT WORK

The Bible is the world's most translated book. At least one book of the Bible has been translated into 2400 languages.

The descent of the Holy Spirit, as narrated in the Acts of the Apostles (chapter 2), describes how the apostles, filled with the Holy Spirit, begin to speak in different tongues about "the mighty acts of God" and to be understood by different peoples in their native languages.

Now that the Bible is available in whole or in part to some 98 percent of the world's population in a laguage in wich they are fluent, peoples today seem to be better off than those of Pentecost days. The Holy Spirit need not exercise any divine power to help peoples today understand the word of God.

Has the Spirit then become superfluous? By no means! Even people who speak the same language often misunderstand each other;spouses may yell at each other;parents and children, or brothers and sisters, may not speak to each other at all.

Indeed, there remains a lot for the Spirit to do, without even moving from one language to another.

We need the energy and power of the Spirit to touch our hearts and minds so that we might understand what others are saying to us and they might understand what we are saying to them.

The Spirit is our helper and counselor. When we are facing a momentous decision, we do not wish to be left alone, but to have someone by our side, to give us strength or help us sort out our decision. The Spirit is our helper and couselor whom the Father sends in Jesus' name to be with us always, to teach us everything and help us both for the tough decisions and for the small problems.

The Holy Spirit guides us in all truth. In all that is necessary to be known, in all that is useful and profitable for our life with God, in all wisdom and doctrine.

The Holy Spirit is the source of reconciliation and peace.
The Holy Spirit unifies peoples of different races and cultures.
The Holy Spirit gives us courage to proclaim and to live the Gospel.

Let us pray together.....Come, Holy Spirit, come! And from your celestial home shed a ray of light divine! O most blessed Light divine, shine wthin these hearts of yours, and our inmost being fill! Heal our wounds, our strength renew. Bend the stubborn heart and will、guide the steps that go astray.Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of all people; and kindle in them the fire of your love. Amen
